Dr. Raja Varma, M.D., F.A.C.C. has been practicing medicine since 1995, and has been
practicing cardiology since 2008. Dr. Varma is certified by
the American Board of Internal Medicine and subspecialties
of Cardiovascular Diseases, Vascular & Nuclear Medicine, Echocardiography and Cardiovascular
Computed Tomography. He
currently is licensed in the State of New York.
Dr. Raja Varma is an attending Cardiologist at Brookhaven
Memorial Hospital Medical Center in Patchogue, NY where he won the Physician
Award of Recognition in May 2012 within 7 months of starting there. The award was for his commitment and excellence in
patient care, creating an environment which supports and rewards caring,
compassion, excellence, teamwork, trust, and mutual respect.
Dr. Varma attended medical school in India at
the prestigious Andhra Medical College which was established in 1923. Throughout his medical schooling, Dr. Varma stood at the top of his class
achieving multiple honors and medals. He received awards for
top performance among three universities at state level. He completed
Orthopedic residency training at the prestigious Post
Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, India. This national
institute is considered the top Orthopedic Residency training program in the country.
Dr. Varma completed his visiting fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, NY as an Orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Varma completed his internship
in medical residency and fellowship in cardiovascular
diseases at New York
Medical College at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY.
Dr. Varma has authored many articles and publications. He is
a Professional Member of the American Heart Association
(AHA), American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the American
Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI). Dr. Varma
is interested in Photography, Computers and Gardening during
his free time.

Dr. Balaji Pratap, M.D., F.A.C.C. joined Suffolk Cardiac Care in 2020 after practicing upstate for 4 years after training. He did his Fellowship in Cardiology at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s - Roosevelt Hospital Center and had the honor of serving as Chief Fellow in his final year of training in 2016. He has done extensive research in Cardiology and Nephrology with numerous publications to his name as well as presentations at National and International meetings. Dr. Balaji is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology and Internal Medicine.
Dr. Balaji is a member of the Medical Staff at Long Island Community Hospital where he sees his outpatients who are undergoing inpatient evaluation. He also avidly participates in teaching sessions for Internal Medicine residents as part of their training program curriculum, with a special didactic focus on EKG interpretation. He is skilled in performing echocardiograms, exercise echocardiograms, exercise and pharmacological nuclear stress tests and Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE) with Cardioversion.
Dr. Balaji is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine (voluntary faculty) in the Renaissance School of Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and Stony Brook University Hospital. More recently, he was invited to serve as a member of the Editorial Board of the American College of Cardiology Early Career website in the Clinician Well-Being position.
Dr. Balaji is personable and well-liked by his patients and colleagues. He explains cardiac conditions and testing in a simplified manner. His main goal is to help his patients understand their health conditions and emphasize the importance of the their role in the decision making process while being available to answer questions and provide guidance.
A sports enthusiast at heart, he enjoys playing basketball and spending time with his wife and toddler son.
